InsuranceOut-of-Network:
We primarily work with participating insurance companies that provide you access to an out-of-network provider which often means more privacy for clients. Clients are usually able to access benefits from their insurance coverage, and usually a significant portion of your private pay expense will be reimbursed with the net result being similar to a copay. You will need to check with your insurance provider for exact reimbursements, and confirm they will reimburse your sessions with a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for out-of-network counseling using 90791 (assessment), 90837 &/or 90834 (therapy sessions) billing codes. If so, we provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for the reimbursement amount allowed by your policy. Some clients with high deductibles and ongoing medical expenses enjoy the benefits of mental health services as a way to meet their yearly deductibles. Some advantages with out-of-network services are related to you being in control of your privacy by determining what you want released to your insurance company, versus in-network providers which are required to release all information about your sessions per contractual obligation. Out-of-network providers can also operate with less influence and potential conflicts of interest - allowing better treatment outcomes in some cases. As noted under private pay, some clients choose not to use their insurance benefits as it will be required to give you a formal mental health diagnosis (which you may not have, or want in your medical record) to be eligible for insurance reimbursement. Also, they can influence duration and type of service you receive. Sometimes called "brief " or "drive by" therapy. Other clients are happy to use their insurance, the pros and cons could be discussed with your counselor when setting up your first appointment. In-network: A few clinicians accept a small group of insurance companies in-network such as UHC. |
